The aim of the AMI (Artists' Moving Image) resource is to provoke critical discourse and practice. AMI challenges out-moded cultural hegemonies. The resource is informed by critical theory, unveiling media as a form of societal control.
AMI is made by Mark Smith, a Midlands-based film-maker, designer and teacher who writes prose, poems and songs about media and education. He has worked with communities in diverse cultural settings, e.g. ICA (London), Pedestrian (Leicester). His films are shown internationally, e.g. Blue Coat (Liverpool), STV (Singapore), Exploding Cinema (London). Mark teaches Design History at Solent University.
