The concept behind the AMI (Artists' Moving Image) resource is to provoke critical discourse and media practice within education. The AMI genre often challenges out-moded hegemonies, serving a very different purpose to our daily menu of film and TV. This resource is informed by critical theory, unveiling media as a form of societal control.
The AMI resource is made by Mark Smith, a Leicester-based film-maker, designer and teacher who writes about media and education. He has worked with communities in diverse cultural settings, e.g. ICA (London) and his films have been shown internationally, e.g. Blue Coat (Liverpool), STV (Singapore).
